VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore junior runner Eunice Jones (Lanham, Md.) was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Jones paced the Lady Hawks with a time of 19:24.64 at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational. Her time is among the top ten MEAC times on a five-kilometer course this season.

As a team, the UMES women finished sixth out of 14 competing teams at the Invite.

Fellow junior Amon Kiprotich (Kapsabet, Kenya) ran a season-best time of 26:50.63 at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational to be placed on the MEAC Top Performers list for the week. His finish was first for the Hawks and 19th overall out of 117 runners.

The UMES men's team also placed sixth out of 14 teams at the Invite.

Both the men's and women's teams have off this coming weekend before hosting the MEAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31.
