Nov. 11, 2004 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) cross country team will travel to Penn State University on Saturday, November 13 to participate in the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships. UMES, fresh off their second and third place team finishes at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships on October 30, will bring five athletes, Eva Slavikova, Pavla Zavoralova, Barnabas Togom, Damion Drummond, and Geoffrey Rutto, to compete in the Regional Championships to be held at State College, Pennsylvania. Slavikova, the first place women's finisher in the MEAC Championships, has won five meets this season and owns the top three individual MEAC times of the year. Zavoralova finished in the Top 20 at the MEAC Championships and will also look to improve on a successful year.
Togom finished first in the men's division of the MEAC Championships and holds two of the top five individual MEAC times this season. Drummond and Rutto each finished in the Top 15 at the MEAC Championships, with Drummond garnering fifth place honors while Rutto finished strong at 14th place.
