Season Outlook:
Givens, who is a converted infielder, will make some appearances this season of the mound. "He is still a work in progress," said Rodriguez. "It is not easy to learn to pitch at the Division I level so we are not rushing him along. He has great arm strength and is picking up the mechanics quickly. He should make an impact later this season."

Givens, who earned three varsity letters in wrestling and two in baseball at Laurel High School, was a member of the Southern Division Champions as a junior...as a member of the wrestling team he led Laurel to a Southern Division Championship runner-up finish in his junior year and finished 6th in the state tournament as a senior. Was an honor roll student all four years of high school and received the academic achievement award his junior and senior years.
