Season Outlook:
Mayta will spend a lot of time on the mound this season as a closer. "He has a very strong arm and a good upside to his pitches," said Head Coach Bobby Rodriguez. He will spend a good amount of playing time at second base as well.

2005: Hit .162 (11-68) in 27 games...Recorded 11 hits, including two doubles...Scored 10 runs and drove in 5...stole two bases and had a fielding percentage of .948...on the mound...Appeared in 14 games making two starts...Finished the season with a record of 2-3 and a 7.81 ERA...Recorded 1 save.
2004: Hit .264 (42-159) in 48 games...Recorded 42 hits, including two triples and four doubles...Scored 22 runs and drove in 19...Reached base via the walk 21 times, stole four bases and had a fielding percentage of .874...Made an appearance on the mound as he went three innings, giving up two hits and one unearned run.
2003: Hit .223 (21-94) in 37 games...Recorded 21 hits, including a triple and four doubles...Scored 11 runs and drove in 11...Stole three bases in four attempts and had a field percentage of .896.
High School/Club Team:
Mayta, who earned varsity letters in both basketball and baseball at Guilderland High School, was named baseball's Most Valuable Player and was on the All-Suburban Team. He hit .387 and stole 22 bases in high school. Mayta also played with the Guilderland Yankees club team from 1999-2001 in Guilderland, N.Y. He was named team MVP in 2000 and led the Yankees to three straight New York State (Upper State) Championships (99-01). In 2000, he led the team with a .420 batting average. He was also an honor roll student during all four years of high school.
