Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Baseball team (2-22-1, 0-6 MEAC) were swept in double-header action as the away team in Princess Anne by the Eagles of Coppin State (9-13, 4-2 MEAC). The game, an away game for the Hawks was moved to Princess Anne at the last minute due to field availability problems in Baltimore. UMES fell, 19-6 & 6-4.

In game one the Eagles touched up the Hawk's Ace, Leon Tilghman for 16 runs on 17 hits. Only eight were earned in seven innings pitched. Tim Stratchko got the win for the Eagles allowing four runs, two earned and recording four Ks.

The Hawks managed eight hits; four coming equally between Greg Cathell and Joel Maher who both recorded a run while Cathell got an RBI. Pete Mayta (1-4) and Rob Benak (1-5) recorded two RBIs each. Catcher James Walls was 1-3 with two runs and an RBI.

In game two the Hawks jumped in the lead first, scoring one in the first before the Eagles tied it in the third. UMES took the lead right back in fifth scoring two runs but a four run bottom half of the inning gave them a 5-3 lead. Coppin added a run in the sixth and the one UMES run in the seventh wasn't enough. The Hawks committed three errors, explaining why starter Walls allowed only one earned run of the five in four and one third innings. Mayta had a solid day at the plate, going 3-4 in the game with two runs. Cathell went 1-3 with another pair of runs.
