UMES BASEBALL SIGNS TWO IN THE EARLY PERIOD

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Head coach Pedro Swann has announced that Justin Dattilo and Jesse Stinnett have signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at UMES starting the 2013-14 academic year.
UMES baseball prides itself on bringing in talent from around the area, and Dattilo and Stinnett come from adjacent states to Maryland to suit up for the Hawks.

Dattilo will join the Hawks after being ranked 76th-overall in the H.S. Class of 2013 from the state of Pennsylvania by Prep Baseball Report. He was the MVP the past two years for North Allegheny High School, ranked 68th in the state of Pennsylvania this past year. Dattilo hit .380 with a .479 slugging percentage as the starting catcher in the third part of the lineup for the Tigers, earning a team-high 17 runs batted in and team-low six strikeouts. He was invited to play in a Major League Scouting Bureau workout and has participated in prospect games in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.
Jesse Stinnett - P/IF - R/R - Madison Heights, Va. - Amherst County H.S.
Stinnett will join a new Maroon and Gray after being one of the top players for the Maroon and Gray of Amherst County High School, the 55th-ranked baseball team in Virginia last season. He serves as a right-handed starting pitcher and shortstop for the Lancers. On the mound in 2012, Stinnett earned a 1.28 ERA in 43.1 innings thrown, striking out 65 and allowing a .173 batting average to finish with a 5-3 record and four complete games. At the plate, he hit .321 with a .415 on-base percentage, finishing with a home run and nine runs batted in. He earned All-District, All-Region and All-Area honors as a junior.
