UMES BASEBALL PREDICTED TO FINISH THIRD IN MEAC NORTH

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has announced that UMES has been predicted to finish third in the MEAC Northern Division this season.
The preseason predictions were voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
UMES received 143 points in the voting to place third in the MEAC North predictions. Delaware State has been predicted to repeat as division champions, earning 17 first-place votes for 213 points. Norfolk State got one first-place vote and is predicted to take second with 163 points and Coppin State is in fourth with 131 points.
Reigning MEAC champion Bethune-Cookman earned all 18 first-place votes and is predicted to win the conference's Southern Division.
In addition, the conference announced its preseason all-conference awards. Ryan Haas of Delaware State was named Preseason Player of the Year and Gabriel Hernandez of Bethune-Cookman is the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
UMES will play its first game on Friday, taking on Winthrop at 4:00 p.m. in South Carolina.
