MEAC Baseball Weekly Honors - Week 5

NORFOLK, Va. - UMES freshman third baseman Connor Breslin has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the period ending March 10th, the league announced Wednesday.

This is Breslin's (Saylorsburg, Pa.) first-ever conference weekly award and the first for the team this season.

Breslin hit safely in all four games against Lafayette on the weekend of March 9th and 10th, going a combined 4-for-13 (.308), bringing in two runs, scoring one and earning a walk. In addition, he had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage during the weekend at third base.

The freshman helped UMES split the series with Lafayette, winning each nine-inning game 10-3 and 5-4 respectively.

In addition, Byron Campbell (Waldorf, Md.) and Chris Lopez (Vineland, N.J.) were recognized as "Other Top Performers." Campbell hit .467 during the weekend with five runs scored, while Lopez earned a win in his first career start with three runs, just two earned, in 5.2 innings.

Breslin and the Hawks take on Georgetown today at 3 p.m. at Hawks Stadium.
