NORFOLK, Va. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has announced that UMES outfielder Tre-von Johnson is the conference Player of the Week for the period ending May 12th.

This is Johnson's (East New Market, Md.) first weekly honor of the season and second of his UMES career, including a MEAC Player of the Week in 2012. This is UMES's second weekly award as a team, with Connor Breslin (Saylorsburg, Pa.) earning MEAC Rookie of the Week in March.

This past week, Johnson had a strong game against UMBC, earning three RBI hits to finish 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. He brought in four of UMES's five runs in the game.

In addition, Sean Woods (Clinton, Md.) was honored as an Other Top Performer after throwing two shutout innings against UMBC, striking out two and allowing just one hit.

Johnson, Woods and the Hawks will face Savannah State on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. for the MEAC Tournament.
