NORFOLK, Va. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has announced that six University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball players have been recognized on the 2012 MEAC Baseball All-Academic Team.

Stephen Bull (Millsboro, Del.), Jacob Foreman (Little Orleans, Md.), Karim Gonzalez (Mexico City, Mexico), Jordan McDougal (Oxon Hill, Md.), James Newsome (Mechanicsville, Md.) and Tyler Witte (Westminster, Md.) earned a place on the All-Academic Team this year.

Gonzalez gets MEAC All-Academic honors for the third consecutive season, while Foreman and Newsome earn a place on the team for the second straight year.

To qualify, student-athletes must be on sophomore, junior or senior academic standing, hold a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and be enrolled in the MEAC institution at least one full academic year.

"I congratulate our baseball student-athletes who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the academic school year," said MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas in the conference press release, "In addition to recognizing the student-athletes achievements, I also applaud the athletic academic support staffs, coaching staffs and all persons who contributed to the academic success of these student-athletes."

In all, 69 MEAC players among the nine conference baseball teams were honored on the 2012 All-Academic list.
