VAUGHN NAMED TO MEAC BASEBALL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Senior center fielder Phil Vaughn (Clinton, Md.) was named to the MEAC Baseball Championship All-Tournament Team Sunday.
Vaughn hit .500 (4-for-8) with one double and four RBIs in the Hawks' losses to Bethune-Cookman and Coppin State in the double-elimination tournament. Vaughn, who finished his career hitting safely in his final 16 games, slugged .625 and had an on-base percentage of .500 in the tournament, while no committing an error in four chances in the field.
Vaughn was joined on the all-tournament team by Nick Rogers, Kelvin Freeman, Esterlin Paulino, George Hines and Nick Oelker (North Carolina A&T) and D.J. Leonard, Jeremy Davis and Alejandro Sanchez (Bethune-Cookman). The team was rounded out by Sammy Serafine (Norfolk State) and Dwight Robinson (Coppin State).
Leonard and B-CU head coach Mervyl Melendez were tabbed as Most Outstanding Performer and Outstanding Coach, respectively.
Vaughn ended his senior season as the team leader in batting average (.347), hits (61), on-base percentage (.448) and stolen bases (28).
