HAWKS HEAD BACK TO THE DIAMOND FOR SUMMER BASEBALL
May 29, 2012
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- The 2012 season may be over for UMES, but the days are summer are just beginning, and for some, that means heading back to the field to suit up for some wooden-bat baseball. In NCAA baseball, student-athletes use aluminum bats during games. In the majority of summer baseball leagues that NCAA student-athletes can compete in, the players use wooden bats, which equals the style of the professional ranks. In addition, many UMES players will play locally in the Eastern Shore Baseball League. Keep track of UMES players as they compete this summer and get ready for the 2013 Hawks season: Byron Campbell (Waldorf, Md.) and Jesus Hernandez (Haverstraw, N.Y.) Tre-Von Johnson (East New Market, Md.) Zachary Saca (Elk Grove, Calif.) Brandon Schott (Warren, Pa.)
