PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Senior Byron Campbell (Waldorf, Md.) and freshman Rachel Halmon (Waldorf, Md.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 7. This is the first honor of the year for Campbell, while Halmon takes it for the second time.

Campbell opened up the fall preseason schedule for the baseball team this past weekend with a standout performance. The outfielder was 4-for-7 with three RBI and four runs scored. He also ripped one double and collected hits in his last three at-bats. It was his performance that guided the team to a 25-5 victory over Salem Community College (N.J.) on Saturday.

Halmon guided the women’s cross country team to a second-place finish at the DSU Invitational on Friday. The freshman completed the 5k in 19:53.55 as she placed sixth overall. Halmon was the first Hawk to finish the event and was 30 seconds faster than the closest competitor on the team.
