Salsibury, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks Baseball Team and their Head Coach Bobby Rodriguez are already having an impact on the community and their season doesn't start for over two more months. Rodriguez plans on involving the Hawks in a worthwhile community project that he is already affiliated with, Healthy U.

On Thursday, December 11, 2003, Rodriguez and several Hawks will attend the Healthy U December Achievement Awards at Pinehurst Elementary School from 5:00-7:00 pm. Coach "B-Rod" will be a judge in the student poster contest that depicts a theme of "Gift of Recovery Through the Eyes of a Child." The participants are ages eight to fourteen, or in grades 3-8, and will have their posters judged on creativity, artistic talent, emotional impact, and adherence to the criteria. There are cash prizes for first, second and third places.

"This is a great project that I have been involved with for several years now," said Head Coach Bobby Rodriguez. "I think it is such a great cause and I am very pleased that I can continue my relationship and involve the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I believe that we not only will have an exciting baseball team to watch, but we will have a good team of good young men who can have an involvement in their community," he added.

Also at the event will be booths sponsored by many local organizations involved with the process of recovery. Admission is free to this great event. Call Kathy Maycock at 443-523-1780 for more information.
