by: David Whigham

Marlon Terry is in his third season as an Assistant Coach at UMES. He came to UMES after one year at University of Montevallo. Terry has had collegiate coaching stops at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Angelina Junior College (TX) and the University of Texas at El Paso.

"Marlon is an accomplished recruiter and is a welcome addition to our staff," says Frankie Allen, "He will work diligently with all the components of the program, including individual instruction and academics. He has strong ties with the Texas junior college circuit and his original hometown of Philadelphia, and is an all-around good person."

Terry helped coach Montevallo to an at-large bid in the Division II NCAA Tournament, where the six-seeded Falcons upset three-seed Georgia Southwestern 62-59 in the first round and eventually finished the season 19-10, led by all-conference guard Antoine Davis, who had 12.5 points per game and 55 steals.

Previous to two years at UALR as the director of basketball operations, Terry spent the 2007-08 season as the assistant head coach of Angelina Junior College, with three of his players eventually earning Division I status. He served at UTEP as a student assistant from 2004 to 2007, earning his degree in the process.

Before his time in college, he coached a number of teams in Philadelphia, including the Philadelphia Elite AAU team and the Philadelphia Lutheran Christian Academy. During this time, he coached Matt Walsh, Rob Kurz and Pops Mensah-Bonsu, all currently playing in the NBA.
