Shawn "Red" Smith is in his second season at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. No stranger to the camp circuit and AAU programs in Philadelphia, Pa. Smith brings a positive attitude and winning mindset. Most recently, Smith was a special education teacher, while serving as a counselor and director at several basketball clinics and camps. He was the Head Coach at Rines Basketball Academy before leaving for UMES. "I've never in the past kept someone when I took over a program," said Head Coach Frankie Allen speaking of Smith's return. "He interacts well with the players. And in terms of working with our point guards, I don't think I could have found a better coach if I had searched far and wide." Smith has three children, Nyseem (12), Aaliyah (6) and Takiar (2). |
