BALTIMORE, Md. -- Robert Pressey led a balanced Coppin State attack with 16 points and the Eagles defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 80-65 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game in the Coppin Center on Monday.

Coppin State (10-18, 8-8 MEAC) also received 14 points from Tywain McKee, 12 points from Augustine Woodlin and 10 points from Antwan Harrison.

After Maryland-Eastern Shore (3-25, 0-16 MEAC) cut an 11-point Coppin State first-half lead to five on two free throws from Corey Brown with 7:05 to play, Pressey led the Eagles on an answering run.

Pressey scored six points during a 14-4 run to close the first half and Coppin State took a 42-27 lead into the intermission.

CSU opened the second half on a 13-6 run capped by a three-pointer by McKee giving the Eagles a 55-33 lead with 14:19 remaining in the game.

UMES cut the margin to 71-59 on a jumper by Aleksander Popovic, but a Pressey dunk and back-to-back baskets by McKee upped the lead to 77-59 with 3:02 to play.

Ed Tyson, Antonio McMillion and Brown each scored 16 points to lead the Hawks.

The Fighting Hawks return to action on Wednesday, February 28 with a conference decision against Hampton at 8:00 at the Convocation Center.
