PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team coasted to a 91-38 exhibition victory over Division III Stevenson University in front of 1,731 at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center on Saturday night.

Redshirt freshman Mark Robertson (Lakewood, N.J.) recorded 22 points, 17 of which in the second half, and five steals, both game-highs, in his first game in a Hawk uniform. He finished the game four-for-five from the 3-point range and 9-for-10 in field goals in 32 minutes of play.

Four other Hawks scored in double digits as redshirt sophomore Hillary Haley (Oxon Hill, Md.) scored 14, juniors Freddy Obame Obame (Libreville, Gabon) and Jamal Edwards (Mays Landing, N.J.) both had 11 while sophomore Tyler Hines (Sicklerville, N.J.) chipped in 10.

In addition to his 11 points, Obame Obame blocked two shots and had five rebounds in 14 minutes of play.

Junior Kevin White (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a game-high eight assists while also producing nine points. Freshman Sean Berry (Irvington, N.J.) grabbed eight rebounds to lead both teams.

"The guys played very well tonight; it was a total team effort," stated head coach Frankie Allen. "I am proud that the score was what it was, but there are still things that we need to work on before our game against Stony Brook."

The Hawks started to run away with the game about four minutes into the game when they were up 7-6 and went on a nine-point run to make things 16-6. Haley sparked an already electric crowd near the nine-minute mark with a fast break dunk to go up 28-11. The home team went into the half with a 30-point lead, up 49-19.

The Mustangs started the second half with a layup by sophomore Keith Holtman to make things 49-21. Baskets were then traded back and forth between the teams until UMES held SU for nearly five minutes to go up 77-26.

The Hawks capitalized off of 17 Mustang turnovers in the second half to score 19 points.

Freshman Danny Murphy led Stevenson with nine points as he went 4-for-9 from the field and junior Patrick Lewis had four rebounds for the Mustangs.

UMES opens regular season play on Friday, Nov. 13 at home in a 7 p.m. match-up against the Stony Brook Seawolves.
