Adobi Agbasi was 9-for-15 from the field this week

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior Adobi Agbasi (Columbus, Ga.) and sophomore Ron Spencer (Sicklerville, N.J.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 9. This is the second consecutive week that Spencer has been honored with the award, while Agbasi receives it for the first time.

Spencer put together a pair of fine performances for the men's basketball team this week. The Sicklerville, N.J., native brought down 20 rebounds altogether as he collected 10 boards in each contest. The sophomore shot 6-for-13 from the field to score 14 points in the two games combined. In the Hawks' loss to Lehigh University, Spencer came off the bench to lead the team in rebounds (10), minutes (31) and blocks (two). In his first four games with the Hawks, Spencer leads the team in rebounds-per-game (8.8) and stands third in points-per-game (8.5).

Agbasi came off the bench to record a pair of solid performances for the women's basketball team this week. She posted nine points, six rebounds and five blocks against Elizabeth City State University, before registering a team-high 12 points and four blocks in the Hawks' loss to Norfolk State University. She finished the week with a 9-for-15 performance from the field as she accumulated 49 minutes across the two games. The Columbus, Ga., product leads the women's team in several categories this year, including blocks (31), field-goal percentage (.482) and free-throw percentage (.818)

The two squads will both square off with Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe, Delaware State University, on Saturday, Jan 14. The women will participate in the first game of the double-header at 5 p.m., before the men conclude action against the Hornets at 7 p.m.
