Jan. 9, 2006 Virginia Beach, VA - The Mid Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced today that the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Troy Jackson (Wilkes Barre, Pa/Laurinberg Prep) has been named the MEAC Rookie of the Week for Men's Basketball. Jackson (Guard, 6-2, 175, Fr.) had back-to-back double-digit performances last week for UMES. Jackson came off the bench to lead the Hawks to a 1-1 week with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting in an overtime victory over N.C. A&T; and had 16 points in a loss to Hampton. He finished the week averaging 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds. Jackson is averaging 7.7 points and 2.3 rebounds on the season.
