PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --Playing in nine games this season, sophomore guard KyRee Jones was recognized by College Hoops Daily for his play at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. "This is a great honor for KyRee, and well deserved," said Head Coach Frankie Allen.

Jones is the team's leading scorer with an average of 16.6 points per game. He has been the Hawks high scorer in five games this season, marking a career-high of 28 points against Houston Baptist (Nov. 11).

Jones transferred to UMES, and has been a presence on the court for the Hawks. Against two nationally recognized programs, Maryland and Cincinnati, Jones scored 24 and 25 points, respectively. He is averaging 2.8 assists per game, shooting 40 percent from the field, and shooting a team's best 88 percent at the free-throw line.

UMES will begin its 2013 conference campaign January 12 as it hosts Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Norfolk State University at 4 p.m. The contest will be held in the William P. Htyche Athletic Center on the campus of UMES.
