PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team looks to return to the winning column with a matchup against the Winston-Salem State University Rams this evening at 7:30 at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center. The Hawks are currently 3-11 on the season, 3-1 at home and 1-1 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. UMES has dropped their last six straight and most recently lost, 80-67, to South Carolina State on Saturday. Junior Tim Burns (Franklinville, Md.) had another solid performance on the season with a game-high 20 points (17 in the second half) on 8-for-12 shooting (3-for-4 from 3-point). Redshirt sophomore Hillary Haley (Oxon Hill, Md.) and senior Neal Pitt (Fort Washington, Md.) also scored in double digits 15 and 11 points, respectively. Pitt, playing for the first time in five games due to an ankle injury, also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. WSSU last played on Saturday, where they lost at Delaware State, 49-48. Brian Fisher led the Rams with 14 points while Paul Davis chipped in 10 and grabbed eight rebounds. Fisher leads the team in season scoring with an average of 11.8 points per contest while Davis leads in rebounding with an average of 6.9 per. This is the ninth meeting between UMES and WSSU and the Rams lead the series, 7-1. The Hawks' only win came on January 12, 2009, in a 69-66 defeat in Princess Anne.
