10/23/2002 - "TEE TROTTER NAMED TO THE NATIONAL DEAN'S LIST"

LAKE FOREST, IL- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Junior Guard Tee Trotter was recently named to The National Dean's List. Their slogan is Honoring America's Outstanding College Students. They selected an outstanding one in Trotter. Trotter will be recognized with the honorary award by having his biography published in the 25th Annual Edition of The National Dean's List, 2001-2002. He will also be competing for scholarships that will be awarded this year. The award is quite an honor as only one-half of one percent of the nation's college students receives the award. Trotter is no stranger to competition as he competes each season for the Fighting Hawks basketball team. Not only does he compete, but he is the team's leading scorer the past two years averaging 16.7 points per game last season and running the offense as the team's point guard. Trotter's talents extend outside of the basketball arena as proven by this award. He also serves as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the campus and aids in tutoring other student-athletes. "I am very proud of him, he has always worked hard for me and for himself," said Head Coach and proud father Thomas Trotter. "Tee is a shining example of a student-athlete, he excels on the court and off of it as well." This award recognizes Trotter for his dedication to academics combined with his passion for the game of basketball. Trotter takes that passion into his junior year with the Hawks. The season officially opens on November 22 at Northwestern but will kick off with Midnight Madness on October 11, 2002 in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
