Hillary Haley had a career day against Howard on Saturday

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team returns to action at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center this evening at 7:30 p.m. with a contest against the Hampton Pirates.

The Hawks are currently 6-14 on the season, 4-3 at home and 4-3 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. They beat Howard, 67-66, on Saturday and were led by redshirt sophomore Hillary Haley's (Oxon Hill, Md.) career high 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting. Haley also nailed seven three-pointers. Junior Tim Burns (Franklinville, N.J.) also scored in double figures with 14 points (all in the first half). Senior Neal Pitt (Fort Washington, Md.) led UMES with nine rebounds while freshman Sean Berry (Irvington, N.J.) had eight.

The Pirates are coming off of a heartbreaking 58-56 loss at Delaware State on Saturday. Hampton is 3-5 in the conference with wins over Coppin State, Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T. Vincent Simpson leads the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game. He is also the team leader in three-pointers made (36), assists (57) and steals (39). Hampton has been solid defensively this season as they rank second in the MEAC in blocked shots per contest (4.1) and lead the league in steals per (8.7).
