BALTIMORE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's and Women's Basketball teams begin a two game set in Baltimore starting with Morgan State University (MSU) tonight in Hill Field House. The Lady Hawks (10-8,3-2 MEAC) enter tonight's game having won three consecutive games, including a 77-51 decision over Bethune-Cookman on Monday night. April McBride (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle H.S.) leads UMES with 14.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while teammate Tiffany Reid (Philadelphia, Pa./National Christian Academy) will look to add to the offensive attack with 13.3 points per game. MSU (11-7, 5-2 MEAC) is coming off a loss to Hampton, 67-61, on Monday in which the Bears had a four game winning streak snapped. Corin Adams, the MEAC's third leading scorer, is averaging 17.6 points per game to go along with 4.72 assists and 4.17 steals per game, both conference highs. UMES dropped their season opener to MSU, 77-71, in a non-conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Listen live to today's broadcast.
The Hawks (2-19, 0-6 MEAC) enter tonight's game on a ten game losing streak. UMES dropped their last contest to Bethune-Cookman, 63-54, on Monday. The Hawks offensive attack is led by Ed Tyson (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook H.S.), the MEAC's second leading scorer, with 18.6 points per game and is joined in the backcourt by Marc Davis (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook H.S.) who is averaging 11 points per game.
MSU (11-8, 6-1 MEAC) has won four consecutive, including a 64-57 decision over Hampton on Monday. The Bears moved to the top of the conference standings with the win and will look to stay there behind the play of Jamar Smith who leads the team with 18.2 points per game. Boubacar Coly leads the MEAC with 10.5 rebounds per game. UMES has dropped seven of the last eight games to MSU and trails in the series 43-30.
