PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The winter weather has effected many things throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region, its latest victim, the game time for the Florida A&M at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The game, originally scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. tip will be delayed four hours until 6:00 p.m. "The Rattlers flight was delayed coming into Baltimore and the women's team will not be able to get to Princess Anne and prepare for an early tip," said UMES Director of Athletic Keith Davidson. "We have agreed to move the women's game after the men's to accommodate them a little more." The men's game scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start, will kick-off the annual Take A Kid To The Game event. In addition to receiving free admission, registrants will also receive a t-shirt, a coupon for a free hot dog, the opportunity to compete in contests during in-game timeouts and the opportunity to meet the Hawks during autograph sessions for both the men's and women's teams. There will also be temporary tattoos, face-painting, balloons and more... all for free! Each child registered will also have the opportunity to have the Hawks visit their classroom. Contest and raffle prizes have been graciously made available by Chick-Fil-A, CoCo's Funhouse, Delmarva Discovery Center, the Delmarva Shorebirds and the Salisbury Zoo. UMES is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation as a part of the TAKG program in its 13th season. The project is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation's youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games. Area youth ages 14 and under are invited to attend this special event and receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket. There is a limit of 10 free children's tickets for one full-price adult ticket. Adult tickets for this special game can be purchased at the door on the day of the game. Registration forms for free child admission are available on www.umeshawks.com or can be obtained by emailing mlhayon@umes.edu or calling Maggie at 410-651-8075.
