VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference named sophomore Tyler Hines (Sicklerville, N.J.) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Hines led UMES to their first Homecoming win since 2002 on Saturday and was named the Jesse T. Williams, Sr. Homecoming MVP Award for his all-around play. He posted a game-high 13 rebounds while adding in nine points, four assists, a block and a steal. The win also marks a sweep of Coppin State, a feat which has not happened since the same 2002 season.

Junior Kevin White (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named to the Other Top Performances list as he totaled 20 points, 12 assists, nine rebounds and four steals in a pair of conference wins over Bethune-Cookman and Coppin State for the Hawks. White broke UMES' single season assist record of 142 (Jesse Brooks - 2005-06) against the Wildcats on Monday night with seven assists. After both games this week, White stands with 150 assists for the season.

The Hawks take on Morgan State tonight in their last home contest of the season at 7:30 p.m.
