Neal Pitt will be honored tonight in his last home game as a UMES Hawk

Feb. 22, 2010

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Neal Pitt (Fort Washington, Md.) will be honored tonight as the team's lone graduating senior as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team wraps up their 2009-10 home schedule against Morgan State tonight at 7:30 at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center.

The Hawks won their first Homecoming game since 2002 with a 66-52 victory over in-state rival Coppin State. With the win, UMES improves to 7-6 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and moves to fourth place in the league. Sophomore Tyler Hines (Sicklerville, N.J.) had an all-around game for the Hawks, posting a game-high 13 rebounds while adding nine points, four assists, a block and a steal. Hines was named the Jesse T. Williams, Sr. Homecoming MVP.

Pitt has amassed 652 career points, averaging 13.4 per contest and 369 career rebounds, averaging 7.38 per contest in 50 games over two seasons. He was named to the 2008-09 Second Team All-MEAC and 2009-10 Preseason First Team All-MEAC.

The Bears enter the game following a loss to Murray State, 75-66, in a Bracketbuster game that was televised on ESPNU. Morgan State has not been as dominant of late in league play as they defeated Delaware State last Monday by just three points (68-65) and lost to South Carolina State on Feb. 15 by a final of 72-68. The Bears are led by Reggie Holmes, who leads the conference in scoring at 22.0 points per game.

The matchup between the Hawks and Bears can be heard and viewed live on the Internet thanks to allinbroadcasting.com and live on the Hawks Radio Network at Studio 106.1 FM. Nick Anastos, David Byrd and Bret Lasky have the call for UMES.
