Feb. 26, 2010 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team looks to get above the .500 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with a contest against the Howard Bison 4 p.m. tomorrow at Burr Gymnasium. The Hawks are currently 9-19 on the season and 7-7 in MEAC play. They are coming off of a tough 65-61 loss to MEAC season leader, Morgan State, on Monday at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center. UMES' lone senior Neal Pitt (Fort Washington, Md.) recorded his fourth double-double of the season and the 14th of his career with 11 points and 15 rebounds on Senior Night. Junior Tim Burns (Franklinville, N.J.) led all scorers with 23 points on 8-for-10 from the field and 4-for-4 from behind the arc. The Bison are 7-22 overall and 6-8 in the MEAC and lost, 50-44, to Bethune-Cookman on Monday. Howard had problems scoring as freshman forward Mike Phillips was the only player to get anything going with seven points off the bench. Calvin Thompson leads the team with 12.4 points per game while Adam Walker averages 5.3 rebounds per contest. In their previous meeting this season, redshirt sophomore Hillary Haley (Oxon Hill, Md.) went 7-for-10 from behind the arc and scored a career-high 33 points to lead the Hawks over the Bison, 67-66 at the Hytche on January 30.
