March 7, 2006 Princess Anne, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Troy Jackson (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Laurinberg Prep.) already collected one honor this week, being named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) All-Rookie Team. The Head Coaches and Sports Information Directors in the conference selected him for that honor and also selected Coppin State Universities' Tywain McKee as the Rookie of the Year. Fox Sports thought different. In a recent preview of the MEAC writer Jeff Goodman named Jackson the conference's `Freshman of the Year.' Jackson, a freshman guard (6-2, 175lb.) averaged a whopping 12.7 points per game. Goodman's predictions followed the selections almost exactly. He also selected Delaware State's Greg Jackson as Coach of the Year and their Jahsha Bluntt as Player of the Year. His first team selection was only one player off. Jackson was joined on the MEAC's All-Rookie Team by teammates Ed Tyson and Jesse Brooks.
