July 14, 2004 Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is proud to announce the 2004-2005 men's basketball has added a new addition to its signing class for the upcoming season. Tal Cohen, a 6'8, 230 lb. power forward from Hadera, Israel has committed to Head Coach Larry Lessett. "He will be a great addition to the program," said Lessett. "We are incredibly excited to have him." Cohen has been exposed to basketball for over 16 years, playing since age five. Prior to serving in the Israeli army he averaged 22 ppg and 15 rebounds in high school. In his senior year he made the National semi-finals for Israeli High Schools. Cohen also played on the Israeli National Team for four years. "I am really excited to start my studies here. I really like the area and the campus. I cannot wait to get started in school and playing basketball," Cohen said.
Cohen will be the first Israeli player to ever play at UMES. He joins four other signees that have committed to UMES. Louis Brookins, Qavotstaraj Waddell, Anthony Davis, and Corey Brown will all join Cohen as new Hawks.
