LESSETT ADDS NEW YORK CITY PREP STAR TO HAWK BASKETBALL

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) has added another player to Head Coach Larry Lessett's 2004-2005 squad. That player comes to UMES from New York City, playing for Bayside High School in Queens, NY. Ryan Leak, a 6-4, 185 lb. swingman has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UMES for the upcoming season.
Leak was a standout in New York, averaging 21.21 points per game, 6.57 rebounds, and 1.64 assists in the regular season. "He is a gamer," said Coach Lessett. "He is a very athletic and very versatile player who will really contribute to our team." One example of Leak's big play ability are his averages in the playoffs last season as he averaged 30.67 points, eight rebounds, and 2.67 assists, big increases in big games.
Leak was recruited by Big East and Atlantic-10 schools and was named honorable mention on the Daily News' 2004 All-City boys basketball team.
Leak joins an impressive first year signing class for Lessett that includes junior college standouts Corey Brown and Anthony Davis as well as prep stars Louis Brookins and Qavaotstaraj Waddell. International talent in Tal Cohen also bolsters the Hawks line-up.
