PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – For the third consecutive year, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore athletics program will host Hawk Hysteria at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.  The night will be the first chance for many fans to see this year’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, while also providing a mixture of fun and excitement to everyone in attendance.

This year’s Hawk Hysteria will see the return of many former men’s and women’s basketball alums to Princess Anne. There is a celebration scheduled for Harry the Hawk, as he will be celebrating his fifth birthday. A surprise visit by many of the Eastern Shore’s best mascots will be seen and a celebration with cake and singing is on the agenda as well. Admission is just $2.

Fans will have the chance to receive autographs from the players and coaching staff throughout the night at an autograph table on the south end of the gym. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to dance, participate in games and see several different presentations.

The night will feature performances by the UMES Cheerleading squad, Diamond Dance Team and Thundering Hawk Pep Band. The music is set to be provided by Bill Baker “The Rumpshaker” and OC-104. Force One Productions will also be on hand at Hawk Hysteria.

To kick off the night, your reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion volleyball team will host Delaware State University at 6 p.m. The Hawks are looking to continue the nation’s longest home winning streak with their 27th consecutive victory at home.

Upon conclusion of the match, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be announced. The women will come onto the court at 8 p.m., and participate in a 20 minute scrimmage. The men are scheduled to make their debut immediately following the conclusion of the women’s scrimmage and will be introduced themselves. The men will then showcase their skills in their own 20 minute scrimmage.

The institution looks forward to seeing many of you in attendance for this year’s Hawk Hysteria. Please be ready for a night of fun and excitement and keep your eyes open for giveaways, prizes and much more. Go Hawks!
