NORFOLK, Va. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference released its annual preseason honors and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball saw senior forward Troy Snyder (Chicago, Ill.) named to the third team. The team was also predicted to finish 13th in the MEAC. The preseason honors are voted on by the men's basketball coaches and sports information directors of the MEAC.

Snyder's selection to the third team is the second preseason honor that he has attained this year. In October, Snyder was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason Second Team after he averaged nearly 12 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season. Snyder had a fantastic junior campaign as he led the team in points (320), rebounds (183), steals (50) and minutes (930). The 6'6 forward is looking to anchor a Hawks lineup this season that returns three starters from the 2012-13 team.

Norfolk State was predicted to win the MEAC and saw four players named to the three teams, including MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, Pendarvis Williams. The Spartans attained 624 points and 14 first-place votes, while Morgan State had 555 points and five-first place votes. North Carolina Central was predicted third with 493 points, while Hampton and last season's champion, North Carolina A&T were fourth and fifth, respectively.

NSU led the MEAC with four players named to the three teams. Morgan State had three players represented, including guard Justin Black, while N.C. Central and North Carolina A&T each had two.

The Hawks open up their season at Columbia University on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m., in New York, N.Y.
