ATLANTA, Ga. - The Tulsa 66ers drafted former University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball player Tim Parham in the eighth round of the 2009 NBA Development League Draft.

Parham, a 6-8 forward from Chicago, Ill., played three seasons for the Hawks, from 2003-06 and led the MEAC with 8.6 rebounds in 2003-04. He averaged 10.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in 82 games for UMES.

"I am truly blessed for this opportunity and I appreciate Tulsa for believing in me," stated Parham. "I feel I'm in the best situation I've been in in awhile. I am forever a Hawk and will represent UMES to the fullest."

Since his career at UMES, Parham has played in Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and Turkey. Additionally, he was drafted in the 2006 NBDL draft by the Bakersfield Jam, but did not make their roster due to a hamstring injury.

The Albuquerque Thunderbirds selected Carlos Powell, a 6-7 small forward from South Carolina, with the first overall selection in the draft.

Complete rosters for each of the 16 NBDL teams will be comprised of the eight players drafted along with seven returning, allocation and local tryout players. Rosters will be reduced to 12 players on Nov. 18 and opening-day 10-man rosters must be set by Nov. 25 in anticipation of the Nov. 27 tip off of the league's ninth season. Each team will play one preseason game between Nov. 19 and 25.

Parham and his new teammates in Tulsa, a minor league affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, begin their season on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. against the Utah Flash, an affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz.
