Nov. 30, 2009 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior April McBride (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and redshirt junior Tim Burns (Franklinville, N.J.) have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week Monday for the period ending Nov. 29. McBride, a guard/forward on the women's basketball team, tied her career high with 29 points in an 81-71 loss at Long Island Tuesday (Nov. 24). She also set a new career mark, knocking down 13 shots in her 29 minutes. McBride grabbed seven rebounds, four on the offensive glass. Additionally, McBride had four steals, three blocks and two assists. Burns, a guard on the men's basketball team, had 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting in 31 minutes in a 65-58 victory over American at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center Sunday. He was 1-of-2 from long range and 3-of-4 from the line. She had four boards, three assist and two steals. UMES (0-3) next plays the front end of a MEAC doubleheader with Delaware State, Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m., while the men's team (1-5) plays at 4 p.m.
