Dec. 4, 2009 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team continues their three-game homestand with a matchup against the Delaware State Hornets on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center. This is the 92nd meeting between the Delmarva rivals. The Hornets lead the series 48-43 and currently hold a 10-game winning streak over the Hawks. The last time UMES beat DSU was February 7, 2004, 69-66 in overtime. Senior Neal Pitt (Ft. Washington, Md.) and redshirt junior Tim Burns (Franklinville, N.J.) led all scorers with 16 points apiece in UMES' first victory of the season over American, 65-58, last Saturday. The team currently stands at 1-5 overall. The Hornets are coming off of a 75-67 win over the Delaware Blue Hens on Tuesday to improve to 4-1 on the season. The men's game is the second of a doubleheader on Saturday with the women's team kicking things off with a 2 p.m. tip against the Lady Hornets. The Hawks official mascot, Harry The Hawk, will celebrate his birthday during a halftime cake party with local mascot friends, Sammy the Seagull and Sherman the Shorebird, among others. The UMES cheerleaders will be on hand with temporary tattoos and face-painting activities.
