Kevin White's eight rebounds and three steals landed him as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Junior Kevin White (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

White had a career-high game in an 87-69 loss at Northern Illinois on Tuesday. He scored 13 points (previous high was 11 against Missouri State on Nov. 20) on 17 field goal attempts (previous high was 15 against Eastern Michigan on Nov. 22) and grabbed eight rebounds (previous high was two). Additionally, he had two assists and three steals.

Redshirt junior Tim Burns (Franklinville, N.J.) was named Other Top Performer for the week by the MEAC. He scored a career-high 29 points on 9-for-16 shooting. It marked the most points by a UMES player since Ed Tyson had 30 on Feb. 16, 2008 at North Carolina A&T.

The Hawks (3-7, 1-0 MEAC) are back in action tonight at Ball State, in Muncie, Ind., at 7 p.m.
