PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla - Junior Michael Veverka (Brunswick, Md.) opened play at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship presented by Brown Capital Management with consecutive rounds of 73 to guide the University of Maryland Eastern Shore golf team to an eighth-place standing after two rounds. UMES shot a blistering score of 306, spearheaded by a even-par score of 72 by sophomore Michael Ferguson (Vorhees, N.J.) and two other scores in the 70s. The 19 stroke improvement from the first day is the best of any team at the event.

The team also have seven golfers competing in the independent division, including junior Sedrick Bailey (Baltimore, Md.), sophomore Richard Fleming (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and team manager Nivel Felicien.
