NORMAN, Okla. -- For the second straight year, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's golf team was honored as a Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team.

UMES was one of 68 Division I schools, including being the only Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member, to earn this honor with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. In addition, UMES is one of just 37 Division I schools to be named a GCAA All-Academic Team each of the past two years.

The Hawks men's golf team has earned many academic awards this season with its high marks in the classroom. In June, the team was honored by the NCAA for academic excellence for earning a perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate and placing in the top 10% of all Division I men's golf teams.

Also, the team was honored by the athletics department for earning the highest team GPA of all men's athletic programs at UMES.
