Feb. 19, 2007 EASTON, MD. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Tennis team got their season started under first year Head Coach Wossen Makonnen on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the season started with a 7-0 loss to Loyola College (Md.) (2-1). UMES (0-1) took to the courts in Easton, Md., utilizing indoor facilities to stay out of the blistering cold of Princess Anne. Number one player Kishan Sudusinghe fell to Scott Gannon 1-6, 1-6. Newcomer Marcus Robinson made a splash in his debut before falling to Ben Epstein 3-6, 2-6. The two did combine for their first doubles win of the season over the same two players, 8-3. However, the Hawks lost the doubles point as Buwaneka Galpothawela and Harold Fowler fell at #2 doubles and William Nitrenganya and Andrew Graham fell at #3 doubles. The Hawks now head to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round-up in Altamonte Springs, Fla, march 22-25.
