Dover, Del. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men and Women's Tennis Teams took on local MEAC Rival Delaware State University (DSU) today in a conference match at the home of the Hornets. DSU took both matches by a score of 5-2.

In the women's match the Hawks picked up two points, one each from Yamanda Dorsey and Sashonna Leak. Dorsey earned her win the hard way, defeating Yyonne Dennis 7-5, 6-3. Leak picked up a win by default, as she did in doubles action with Tonaio Swangin. DSU took the other two doubles matches to win the point. Kyndall Chapman also put some match points up despite falling to Jennifer Dailey 6-2, 6-3. Along with doubles partner Haaveshe Sawyer they fell 8-3. The Hornets took the first four seed matches to win 5-2.

On the men's side UMES got two points from Harold Fowler and Hasika Pamunuwa. Each recorded a win in their number four and five seed matches respectively. Fowler defeated Olumide Ayeni 6-4, 7-5 while Pamunuwa took out David Sewell. Robin Schneider and George Ray won their doubles match 8-2 over the same two opponents. That was the only doubles match UMES would win as they also fell 5-2.

Both Hawk teams are in action again on Tuesday, March 5, 2005 at Morgan State in Baltimore, Md. at 1:00 p.m.
