HAWKS UPENDED BY WESLEY IN NON-CONFERENCE BOUT

DOVER, Del. - In their final tune up before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's tennis team fell 6-0 to Wesley College on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, UMES has now lost ten straight to begin the year.
UMES (0-10) fell in both portions of the match to Wesley. Junior Wirlen Elame (Silver Spring, Md.) opened with a 6-0, 6-1 loss at No. 1, before the Hawks took home four points at No. 2 and No. 3. Junior Kijontray McClay (San Diego, Calif.) lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and junior Joseph Journey (Detroit, Mich.) lost 6-1, 6-1 at third singles. Sophomore Christopher Charles (Brooklyn, N.Y.) lost by consecutive scores of 6-0 at No. 4.
The Hawks lost 8-0 at first singles and Journey and Charles lost 8-3 in second doubles.
The Hawks will resume action at the MEAC Championships in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday, April 19. The tournament will last three days until April 21.
