MARCH 24, 2009
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Both the men's and women's tennis teams at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) fell to Morgan State University (MSU) 7-0 at home in the Hawks Outdoor Tennis Complex. Richard Warren (Salem, N.J.) came close to defeating Samuel Matthew, but fell short 8-6 in singles play. The tagteam of Rashad James (Charlotte, N.C.) and Osvaldo Rivera (Christiansted, U.S.V.I.) won their doubles event 8-5, but it was not enough to overtake the Bears. On the women's side, Aissatou Ba (Dakar, Senegal) fought hard but fell in the three sets (6-2, 1-6, 6-2). The Lady Hawks could not grab a win against MSU, dropping their second straight MEAC contest. UMES will get a chance to break out of the slump against Wesley College on March 25. The match is set to start at 2 p.m.
