HAWK TENNIS SEES TOUGH COMPETITION AT MEAC ROUND-UP

Orlando, FL - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Men's Tennis Team headed south to Florida to check out the tough competition in the MEAC South. While they put up a tough fight the southern schools got the better of them five times, dropping UMES to 0-7 on the season.

On day one the Hawks faced the tough Rattlers of Florida A & M, falling 4-0 despite spirited doubles play from Rob Schneider and Lamar Sutton. In the second match on the day the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University bested the Hawks 4-0.

On day two UMES looked to rebound. They ran into the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman College, falling 4-0. The Hawks got solid play from Brandon Jackson and Hasika Pamunuwa and their doubles competitors. Later that afternoon UMES fell 4-0 to North Carolina A & T 4-0. In a match that ended early Shahan Sudusinghe defeated Marcus Williams to earn a singles win.

In the mast match of the round up the Spartans of Norfolk State University bested the Hawks 4-0 with Pamunuwa and Sudusinghe playing a great doubles match.

UMES looks to rebound against Morgan State on March 14 in a home contest at Princess Anne, MD.
