Salisbury, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) sent three singles players and two doubles teams to the 27th Annual Hecht's Tournament held over the weekend at Salisbury University.

On the singles side Devin Marine and Marcus Robinson competed as unattached players, not representing the University. Marine fell to Jordan Bukovsky 6-2, 6-3 and Robinson fell to Garrett T. Russell 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. Robinson took the second set with some impressive play, showing off what he hopes will be a swing that will knock-off more than a few Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Competitors.

Officially representing the Hawks was Harold Fowler who fell to Shane M. Barry 6-0, 6-1. Fowler also teamed up with Hawk Christopher Clarke to take on the team of Jack Layton and Stephen B. Soliday. Clarke and Fowler fell 6-2, 6-1. The other doubles team of Marine and Robinson advanced to round two with a bye before falling to Randy Halfpap and Bryan Knepper 6-0, 6-0. Halfpap and Knepper went on to win the men's doubles bracket.

Head Coach Doug Wright hopes that this tournament helped prepare the Hawks for their first match against MEAC rival Delaware State in Dover, Del. on October 2, 2005.
