BALTIMORE, Md. — Senior Wirlen Elame (Silver Spring, Md.) enjoyed his finest match of the year this past Saturday, but it was the UMBC Retrievers who came out on top with wins over the Hawks’ men’s and women’s tennis teams. The decision drops the men’s team to 0-2 on the season, while the women fall to 0-4.

Elame, a biology and pre-pharmacy major out of High Point High School, won his first games of the season, ultimately losing to UMBC’s Kevin Hsieh by scores of 6-1, 6-2. The match inches Elame closer to his first win since the final match of the 2012-13 season. The rest of the men’s team lost in straight sets to the Retreivers, as did the members of the women’s team.

The teams will take off for the next two weeks before taking on the Bison of Howard on March 21st. Match time is set for 2:00pm.
