NORFOLK, Va. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference released its 2011-12 Men's and Women's Tennis All-Academic selections on Wednesday and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore tennis program had seven student-athletes honored. The list saw eight schools receive the award and the seven UMES recipients were the fourth highest of the 13 MEAC schools.

The list saw 54 student-athletes distinguished altogether. The list is comprised of MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average. It also features transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year.

The nominees included three student-athletes from the men's team and four from the women's team. For the men's team, sophomore Wirlen Elame, sophomore Wayne Heath, and junior Malcolm Johnson were all selected. The women saws senior Alisia Belt, senior Anna Katenta, junior Shamara McKenzie and sophomore Enjoli Simmons each included.
