Aug. 10, 2005 Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Head Tennis Coach, Doug Wright, will be the lead instructor at this summer's Eastern Shore Tennis Academy (ESTA). The Summer Camp's second session will be on the campus of UMES from August 22nd-August 26, 2005. The camp costs $125.00 for basic training and $175.00 for advanced training. The basic training runs from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM Monday through Friday and noon to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday for advanced training. The camp includes sound stroke fundamentals based on the laws of physics and basic court position, movement and shot selection for the beginners while advanced training includes intense drilling, advanced stroke development, match play situations, fitness and statistical match analysis. Coach Wright has taught professionally for 25 years, holding Head Pro positions in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas and Indiana. For six seasons he was the Director of the Jr. Tennis Academy at one of the "Top Ten Clubs in the U.S." according to World Tennis. He now brings that experience to the ESTA. The ESTA started in 1990 and has produced more high school and NCAA team players than any other junior development program on Delmarva. It has produced the USTA #1 ranked player in Maryland, USTA Maryland Outdoor Champions, NCAA players at Florida Tech, Villanova, Salisbury, Delaware, Washington College and UMES. The camp trains players from all ability levels, creates a fun yet challenging learning atmosphere, develops an individual style of play and affords youth the opportunity to achieve individual goals, allowing them to enjoy tennis recreationally or competitively. Interested parties and questions should be directed to Camp Director Doug Wright at 410-430-2528.
