LADY HAWKS SAUNDERS DISCUSSES LEARNING OPPORTUNITY

SAUNDERS ATTENDS NCAA NATIONAL STUDENT-ATHLETE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Kendra Saunders, past President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), began her summer by attending the NCAA National Student-Athlete Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. A requirement of completion in this prestigious training is that upon her return to campus she is to institute and implement an action plan. Kendra has also been selected to be a part of the new Hawk Leadership Academy facilitation team. This team of facilitators includes Dr. Townsend of Student-Athlete Development and Tony O'Neal of Athletic Development. The Academy is comprised of two athletes from each team that will meet once per week in a laboratory-style class. Part of the duties of these Academy members is to implement the new Student-Athlete Mentoring program. This program is designed to provide incoming freshman a "social" outlet to facilitate a smooth transition into student life on campus. MORE[+]
